Impossible to pigeonhole, imbued with spirituality and sexuality in equal measure, and the bearer of a most beautiful voice, Amique has been bubbling in background of Liverpool's new music scene since 2014, but in 2016 he poignantly dropped his best new music. He says, "I grew up around music - I heard all kinds from the moment I woke up to the moment I went to sleep. Picking up instruments and studying my craft was always a way of enabling translation of those sounds. Any chance to study music - school, choir, orchestra... any and all activities at school and in youth projects, I was there. I went from attending music-based youth work projects, to supporting other young ones as a mentor. At the age of 11/12, I looked on the back of an album and saw the words 'produced, arranged, composed and performed by Prince'. I was floored. I'd never heard of anyone doing all of that before. He could do everything and anything and refused to let anyone manipulate his instincts. Right then and there at 11, I knew that I was going to spend the rest of my life striving to be the best musician I could possibly be too. Limitations and boundaries no longer existed."
The 'We Don't Do Things Like You Do (We Do Things As They Should Be Done)' EP, released in 2016, was as expansive as it is a wordy. From the choral opening grind of 'The Prophet' through to the jaunty taut funk of 'Irresistible Divinity' it exuded provocative playful pop class. Having already played LIMF, Liverpool Soulfest, Sound City and the Radio 1Xtra supported LIMF Academy London gig, Amique was all set to ramp things up another level especially when playing with supporting musicians. 'Amique & The Ecstasy' is an exciting, genre-bending band, drawing influences as rich and diverse as Prince, 'Free Nationals', John Coltrane & Jimi Hendrix. His live backing band 'The Ecstasy' are described as an 'extension and chore part of the project', rather than Amique joining an existing separate group. The band members appear to be session musicians who work with Amique on his music and have been performing together for several years, with mentions of them playing the London Jazz Festival in late 2023. Fronted by Amique, they regularly tear the roof off at Fredericks in their hometown of Liverpool, and an impulsive session at the city’s Motor Museum resulted in new music being released that summer. Creating music that fuses soul, rock, funk and jazz with a striking originality that explicitly pays homage to the greats that came before him, Amique’s sense of self, musically speaking, is unrivalled. The LIMF Academy Graduate has taken the Liverpool music scene by storm and looks to expand his musical reach nationwide. He says, "I had an epiphany recently that what links all my artistic heroes together is the fact that they all yearned for freedom and found it in their music. Miles, Prince, Joni, Coltrane, Jimi, Kate….they all refused to be confined into one space. They never looked back, always forward…each song was an evolution of their spirit. Like in Buddhism, each song was like a new cycle of life, closer to nirvana. I was always inspired by the greatest Artists. My Grandad told me that when I was young they tried putting me in a playpen but I would become furious and kick up hell until they let me out. I never wanted to be restricted or confined. Freedom is everything to me. Music to me is freedom. Right from the beginning, my dad was playing Robert Johnson, Charlie Patton, Elmore James. I was exposed to greatness from the very beginning."

He is now a boundary-pushing producer, arranger, composer, singer, and performer whose music fuses soul, funk, jazz, and R&B into a genre-blurring, emotionally charged sound. Influenced by artists like Prince, D’Angelo, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder, and Miles Davis, blending groove-heavy arrangements with heartfelt storytelling. His latest project, Heart of Multitudes Vol. 1—mixed by Tarek Musa (Dead Nature) and released through Ripe Records—is a sprawling fusion of funk, jazz, and soul that is wild, explosive, and deeply human. His live shows are thrilling and cutting-edge. He has sold out headline shows in London and Liverpool, performed at the London Jazz Festival, and opened for Grammy-winning Snarky Puppy, building a reputation as a fearless live performer. Writing, producing, and performing with full creative control, Amique explores themes of identity, faith, and resilience. His music has earned national radio play and connects with listeners who crave authenticity and depth.
