Liverpool Pub Crawl - Lannigans

Originally from County Tipperary in the Republic of Ireland, Richard Lanigan runs a number of pubs and has a furniture business in his native country. His attention turned to Merseyside in 2014 when his business partner invited him to a day at Aintree racecourse and they were having a few drinks together inside The Empire pub on Hanover Street. Looking out of the window there were people passing up and down the street and the footfall was amazing. His business partner remarked, "wouldn't this be a great place to open a pub?'. So, in 2015, Richard and his business partner made good on the idea and opened Lanigans on Ranelagh Street in the city centre where Richard wanted to offer the city's large Irish community a bar that felt like home. He said, "We felt that we wanted to bring a bespoke Irish product to the city, a traditional theme with timber and the right artefacts. Some of my bars in Ireland were done up with architectural salvage from a company in Leeds. And I have some good carpenters that work with me on projects, we try to incorporate a mix of the traditional and the contemporary. To do an Irish bar properly, you need wood, architectural salvage. Recently, I bought the contents of a church in St Helens and I put some church pulpits in the new bar."

The interior has a solid wood serving bar dominating the main room with 'pubby' decor and furnishings, big screens to enjoy the sport, a stage area for live music and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and outside looking out onto the busy and bustling Ranelagh Street. The bar features an expansive LCD video wall, making it a popular spot for sports enthusiasts. Live music is a staple, with performances seven nights a week, including top DJs playing until 2 am. The large interior boasts Irish architectural elements, creating an inviting atmosphere and the extensive drinks menu includes a wide range of Irish whiskeys, gins, beers, and porters, with the pub being renowned for serving one of the best pints of Guinness in the northwest of England.
