Kerrie Hayes was born on the 13th of March 1987 in Anfield, Liverpool where she grew up with two older sisters and two younger brothers. Attending Holly Lodge Girl's College in West Derby, her interest in acting began when she was about 13 years old and her parents were bemused by her ambition to 'tread the boards, and begrudgingly agreed to her attending drama class with her sister. She says. "I asked if I could go to drama classes when I was about 13. They agreed as long as my school grades didn’t suffer. Unfortunately, my grades did go down until they were virtually non-existent!" After later attending Liverpool Community College her acting career took off and after landing the role of Ruby Moss in BBC’s drama 'Lilies' (2007), at the age of 20, she hasn't looked back. More work followed such as in four episodes of 'Doctors' (2008), then 'Nowhere Boy' (2009), 'Casualty' (2010) and 'Shameless' (2011) before a more meatier role as a brand new PC, Amanda Morgan, still on probation and keen to learn.

Following this Kerrie took on the role of Esther Price in the 'The Mill' (2013-14). Based on powerful true stories of the workers, it focused on the lives of the mill hands against a backdrop of significant social and political changes following the Poor Law Amendment Act of 1834. Kerrie said of her character, "I admire her character a lot. She got fined hundreds of pounds for fighting in Liverpool and Manchester gangs. She was a feisty one! But at the same time she stood up for herself and the others around her. My advice to her would have been to rein the violence in." After swapping Liverpool for London, Kerrie has happily settled in the big smog. However, she readily admits that she misses her home city.
