Pool Of Sound - The Double Nines

Established in 2023, in releasing their debut single 'Big Shot' on the 25th of September, 2024, Liverpool’s 'The Double Nines' were attempting to establish themselves within the city’s indie/rock scene. The make up of Liverpool’s latest band-on-the-rise are: Anthony Barrios on lead vocals, Sam Durkin on guitar, Matt Mayz on guitar, Charlie Holden on bass, Louis Gallardo on keys and Tyler Austin on drums hailing from the United States, South America, the Middle East, and the UK all converging in Liverpool.

They are a high-energy Metamodern Indie Rock band with a global edge with a sound that fuses poetic lyricism, theatrical performances, and electrifying melodies.
Their music is a rich tapestry of global influences which were reflected in their debut single which is a unique blend of 1930s swing and modern indie/alternative pop rock, creating a sound that is both nostalgic and fresh. Drawing inspiration from the early baroque American alternative rock of 'Panic! At the Disco'  and the big band jazz sounds of Benny Goodman, the band crafted a high energy track that is infectious and simultaneously charming. The addition of funky riffs reminiscent of 'The 1975' added a contemporary edge to the classic sound. Their sound is a bold fusion of genres, stemming from the diverse cultures of the band members, blending the dreamlike synthscapes of 'The 1975' with the infectious hooks of 'The Killers', all underscored by the introspective undertones of 'The Smiths'. On the surface, although the single appears to be the perfect feel-good song to close out summer to, it does however come with an important underlying message; aiming to inspire listeners to embrace their individuality and pursue their passions without feeling the pressure to fit a specific mould, and that success and happiness can be achieved without conforming to traditional expectations.

The Double Nines are more than just musicians; they are performers. Their live shows are electrifying, characterised by high energy and theatrical flair. Having already played several venues in Liverpool and Manchester earlier this spring, they have a knack for creating an immersive experience, drawing audiences in and leaving them wanting more. Recently featured on BBC Introducing Live at the legendary Cavern Club, as well as Liverpool Noise and Bolton FM’s 'Foster the Music', the band has been making waves in the indie scene. As Liverpool Noise puts it,  "As The Double Nines continue to evolve and push boundaries of their sound, one thing remains constant: their unwavering commitment to creating music that resonates deeply with their listeners."
With each performance, they forge a connection with their fans, building a loyal and dedicated following. They even played a fundraiser on Livepool’s Bold Street to aid their friend’s top surgery, establishing themselves as the perfect LGBTQ+ community allies.

2025 and beyond will only see The Double Nines continue to evolve and push the boundaries of their sound, one thing remains constant: their unwavering commitment to creating music that resonates deeply with their listeners.
