Nick Maloney was born in Liverpool on the 4th of June 1953 and began acting on stage, appearing in productions such as 'The Relapse' (1979) at The Gateway Theatre Company and 'Talent' (1981) at The Duke's Playhouse Company. He married the M6 theatre company in Rochdale. Wider professional recognition came to Carol in 1985 when 'Lennon' won the Sunday Times Best Musical award and Carol, as Cynthia Lennon at the Astoria theatre in London (1985-86), was nominated for an Olivier award for best actress. Her achievement was all the more impressive as she had only recently become a mother: Chloe had been born in 1983, Laura in 1985 and Rob came along in 1989.
It was in 1982 that Nick began his TV career when he appeared as a Rent Man in 'Boys
from the Blackstuff'
and has appeared in countless TV shows and films over the years.
Following an appearance in the TV movie 'Gaskin' (1983) as a Liberal
Councillor he was an Ensemble actor in 9 episodes of 'Carrot's Lib'
(1983) and 'The Lenny Henry Show' (1985). Nick then played two parts in 'Coronation Street':
in July 1983 he appeared as Dave Hinchcliffe who accompanied a Russian
trade delegation to Baldwin's Casuals and returned to the programme in
May 1998 as PC Simons who had an altercation with a drunk Les Battersby.
