Pool Of Sound - Beyond Average

With Merseyside enjoying somewhat of a hip hop resurgence, duo 'Beyond Average' comprising DJ's Big O and Jeopardy lead that charge. Support slots including 'Dead Prez' and 'Ghostface' followed by the release of their self-titled debut album rounded off a fine 2014 and with the newly-released Kof-directed video of 'Great Minds Think Alike', 2015 looked to be shaping up just nicely. Being mates in high school they both shared a passion for hip hop music and also for the rising genre at the time known as grime. At that time they were both getting into the idea of writing their own lyrics and they would spend lesson and break times writing bars then after school spitting out what they had to each other. That then quickly turned into their main hobby and before long they were both getting pretty good and realised they had a rare talent. Starting to take it more and more seriously, they recorded their first track as 'Beyond Average' back in 2006. Since then they have released three EP's and an album, performed hundreds of live shows supporting some big UK acts, and also US hip hop legends such as 'Ghostface Killah' and 'Dead Prez', plus most recently 'Redman' and 'Method Man' in the Liverpool O2 Academy.

Fusing together elements of grime and dub step, they bring together immersive beats with magnetic hooks that stand as a firm basis for their fantastic lyrical content. On their debut album 'Great Minds Think Alike', they take on modern-day life, littered with satire and irony, but it also bears a shockingly accurate, truthful look into what many people would find normal but to others proves a real eye opener into the underbelly of society.

In November 2018, Getintothis was at District to see them support the 'Tea Street Band'. "First up, 'Beyond Average'. The Scouse hip hop band are signed to nearby Modern Sky UK. For many, it was an exciting invitation to enjoy rap, and one that many fans took up as District packed out for the opening act." At the end of 2019 on their Facebook page they said, " Love to everyone streaming our music we haven’t released much this year but we got more bangers en route for everyone 👀🔥🔥🙌🏻 stay tuned."
