| The Black Velvets |
'The Black Velvets' were a blues rock band from Liverpool formed in 2003 by bass guitarist Dave
Dutton and schoolmate drummer Nick Kilroe, who started writing songs together to form a band after their previous bands split up. They were joined by Dave's cousin, vocalist Paul Carden and guitarist Robbie Ross who was at university doing art with Dave's girlfriend.
They described their influences as, "Glam Punk Rock 'n' Roll", which included 'T.Rex', 'Led Zeppelin' and 'AC/DC' as they began crafting a riff-driven, deep beat classic sound,
before organising showcase gigs at the Cavern Club. After some bigger gigs in London, supporting among others, 'The Killers', 'Stellastarr' and 'The Who', they attracted the attention of Alan Wills at Liverpool indie label Deltasonic
who arranged a management deal with Sanctuary Management the home of mega stars
'Destinys Child'. This in turn led to a deal with Vertigo Records with whom the band signed a contract to in 2004, but Liam Gallagher and John Squire, who were there at the time, neglected to sign as a witness. Squire had just finished a show and was too late and Gallagher, not untypically, asked "where the bar was and walked out with all his mates."

| Get On Your Life |
The band's debut single, 'Get On Your Life', written by Nick Kilroe, was released
in November 2004. They toured with 'The Glitterati' and 'Hurricane Party' as
part of the 'New School of Rock Tour' in 2005 which also saw the release of
further Kilroe singles. The first being, '3345', described as "three minutes of full-on,
ear-splitting rock", and was written in honour of the bar on Liverpool's Parr Street that they developed a love / hate relationship with, and it gave them their biggest chart hit at No.34 in the UK Singles Chart. This was followed by 'Glamstar', and 'Once in a While' and then the band's eponymous album, produced by Mike Crossey, which was also released with them
playing at The Cavern, where they were awarded the honour of
their own signed brick in the wall of the club.

"Classic Rock 'n' Roll", going on to say that the band were looking for,
"Another Oasis-style vibe".
