Nipper Lawrence ( Score 'n Roar and Scorcher )
Nipper had been orphaned after the death of his father who had worked as a cashier for a local shipping firm. The police had been chasing Nipper's father at the time of his death as they believed he was responsible for swindling money from the shipping firm. Nipper was convinced that his father knew the identity of the real thief and believed that his father was on the way to the police to inform them when he died in the accident. He lived his life as an impoverished young footballer trying to turn pro with Blackport Rovers in order to earn enough money to help him clear the name of his dead father, unjustly accused of being a criminal. His arch-foe was the brutal Pete Belcher.
Nipper believed in his father's innocence so strongly that he would often get involved in fights if anyone suggested that his father was a thief. Nipper was determined to clear is father's name and would spend every spare moment working down at the local docks for cash so that he could save up and hire a lawyer who would clear his father's name.
Nipper was in the care of a guardian by the name of Nat Munger. Nipper hated Nat Munger, but considered him being his guardian preferable to being placed in a children's home. Nat Munger would often disappear for weeks at a time leaving Nipper to fend for himself.. Nat Munger stole Nipper's savings which left Nipper with no choice but to work even harder.
On discovering that the new Blackport Rover's signing was on the princely sum of £100 pounds per week, Nipper decided to become a professional footballer. Nipper eventually became a professional footballer for Blackport Rovers after being discovered by Andy Stewart.
When two of the Blackport players were injured in a coach crash, Nipper was promoted to the First Team for a vital promotion game against Kingsdale. Despite a nervous start, he became a sensation by scoring two amazing goals. But even the Rovers fans were astonished when the Blackport captain, Len Duggan, called up Nipper to take a last minute penalty…’
Bebé
Bebé was abandoned as a young child by his father Francisco and his mother Deolinda. He was given his nickname, which means 'baby' in Portugese, by his older brother. He was consequently raised by his grandmother in a suburb of Lisbon until the age of 12, when a court placed him in the care of the church. He moved to the Casa do Gaiato shelter in Santo Antão do Tojal, 20 km outside Lisbon
He became a Portugese under-19 international and joined Estrela in 2009. A year later, he was signed by Vitoria de Guimaraes but transferred almost immediately to Manchester United for a fee of about £7 million, despite manager Alex Ferguson admitting he had never seen Bebé play. His spell at Mannchester United saw him to be the butt of jokes about his ability to play at the highest level. He then became the source of deep suspicions regarding his transfer to Manchester United. But after leaving, Tiago Manuel Dias Correia, otherwise known as Bebé, enjoyed a revival in his fortunes at modest Portuguese club Paços de Ferreira where he scored spectacular goals. In one game he notched a brace which included a wonderful strike that featured an audacious back-heel over his marker’s
head followed by an unerring volley crashed over the goalkeeper and into the corner of the net.
