| The man who won the league |
GOALKEEPER:- TIM KRUL, It is fair to say that Joe Hart is a great keeper and the champions will not be looking elsewhere to improve the position. However, Newcastle's run to fifth place was built on some backs-to-the wall victories and anybody who has cared to study the performances Coloccini and Williamson are left in no doubt that The Magpies have needed the best goalkeeper to keep them rolling along.
RIGHT FULL BACK:- KYLE WALKER - Hard to get past the obvious choice. A battling 'Stuart Pearce' no-nonsense style was complimented by long range goals. A North London derby winner helps make you mark.
LEFT FULL BACK:- LEIGHTON BAINES - Having shaken off the 'home sick' label which painted the Everton full-back as somebody unwilling to meet a challenge, BAINES has expressed himself more than ever this season. He became noted for whipping in Beckham-esque crosses and then excelling with neat interchanges when reunited with his partner in crime Steven Pienaar.
CENTRE BACK:- VINCENT KOMPANY - A good player became great when becoming a captain and a leader of the title winners. KOMPANY quite simply delivered all year. The goal against Manchester United sets him apart with ironically a desire to win that used to be associated with United legend Steve Bruce.
CENTRE BACK:- JOHN HEITINGA - World Cup finalist defenders are hard to find in the Premier League, indeed there is only one. HEITINGA stepped up to that level this season offering a range of passing that lifted Everton's season and style of play to new levels.
MIDFIELD:- RAMIRES Santos do Nascimento - When looking for a man for the big moment - RAMIRES is your man. Cup final openers and the goal of the season at the Nou Camp given how it changed the shape of the Catalan giants. Great players influence big games.
MIDFIELD:- MARK DAVIES - If Scott Parker can be the main man having taken West Ham down last season, then we can't hold it against Davies. There are few in the league with his touch and awareness, almost a natural fit to replace the injured Jack Wilshire ... Which would just be too hard for the great coaches to see.
MIDFIELD:- CLINT DEMPSEY - There was a time when American players would be signed as a marketing venture. Not any more. Dempsey has been so explosive that teams across the league are viewing him as perhaps the key signing of the summer. Dempsey has outgrown Craven Cottage. Bound for the elite.
FORWARD:- ROBIN van PERSIE - It's not just that he scores them, it's the way he scores them. The Arsenal man dragged the Gunners from nowhere to where they needed to be. His form may have saved his club a decade of catchup and his manager his job. Before he gets carried away in summer talks it is not all a positive - he should have finished Milan off and saved the season.
FORWARD:- NIKICA JELAVIC - Every so often a goalscorer comes along who changes a team around. Everton don't make the headlines as much as some but JELAVIC has made plenty of them. Unlike Papiss Cisse, nobody is worried about how next season will pan out. Newcastle may have found a Tony Yeboah - Everton can be confident they have a van Nistelrooy.
FORWARD:- SERGIO AGUERO - A star of the league in the early season scoring all kinds of great goals. AGUERO went quiet for spells. But when you needed a big moment - there was only one man anybody in Sky Blue wanted to be on the ball. AGUERO won City the title in more ways than one.
