When Will They Ever Learn?

No cupping of ears winding up rival fans
No kissing of camera lenses.
A dismal run of performances
Suddenly brings everyone to their senses.
Big prima donnas once heralded
Are now brought down to size,
By the supporters who once adored them
But have now turned to despise.
Whether it's Chelsea, Liverpool or City,
Arsenal or even West Ham.
Players have got to put in a 'shift'
To appease every hard working fan.
Do they appreciate what it costs to watch them?
What these fans have to give up.
How much it means to the man in the street
To dream of his team winning a cup.
How can you laugh and exchange your shirt
When you have just been badly defeated?
But you've just earned more than they do in years
No wonder at times they feel cheated.
