Premier League Predictions

A look ahead to this week's Premier League fixtures

Saturday, 25 September 2010
Man City v Chelsea, 12:45
It almost feels as though Chelsea can look down and sneer at City's new money. "Where were you when when we had Veron?" they may not sing. A lot of City fans will remember Chelsea as a team that once harboured the talents of John Bumstead. Chelsea fans will remember that Craig Bellamy used to play for City. He tore them apart in this calender year. Now he plays for Cardiff with City footing the bill - another step in THE PROJECT. Regardless, they will no doubt be comparing pay packets and earrings in this one as Didier Drogba destroys the most mid-table of defences
PREDICTION: 1-3

Arsenal v West Brom, 15:00
The Gunners will be up for this one. They can smell the title as well as the profits at The Emirates. Well, when you call your stadium that - you'd better be making a profit. Anyway, we all love the football Arsenal play, we all love the fact that The Baggies haven't gone the way of their Midlands neighbours and believe in playing decent football. Wish it could be closer. Doubt it will be though.
PREDICTION: 4-0

Birmingham v Wigan, 15:00
Wigan have their best chance in games like this. The Blues have to earn every point and there is no doubt players and fans alike have added three points to their current league placing. A dangerous game. Wigan are better than their home record has people believe.
PREDICTION: 1-1

Blackpool v Blackburn, 15:00
If Blackpool are to have a realistic chance of staying up, this above all their fixtures so far, will be the one that will be most telling. Win here and they believe. If Big Sam can get away with some kind of 'cornerback blitz' at a corner kick again then Blackburn may nick all three points. Lets hope that won't happen.
PREDICTION: 0-0

Fulham v Everton, 15:00
Mark Hughes once lectured David Moyes about allowing his players to join bigger clubs. At the time he was cherry-picking Everton's players while at Man City. Now Hughes has to spend his time rowing with Tony Pulis about muddy midweek encounters in Stoke. Just a hunch, but Hughes may believe his career has soured somewhat. Everton need this one, Fulham are content - well they look that way.
PREDICTION: 1-2

Liverpool v Sunderland, 15:00
If there is one good thing that has come from the American takeover at Liverpool, it is those nice boots that Tom Hicks had embroidered with the Liver Bird. A classy move. Liverpool reached a new low in midweek. This will be better but just as frustrating for those who hope to be enjoying Champions League football soon. There aren't too many of those about now though.
PREDICTION: 1-1

West Ham v Tottenham, 15:00
The Hammers have had new life breathed into them. Tottenham had a hiding by Arsenal in midweek. I take it we won't be seeing David Bentley in this one. Still, Spurs will have too much you would think - and Harry will want it ... bad.
PREDICTION: 1-2

Sunday, 26 September 2010

Bolton v Man Utd, 12:00
Bolton are becoming better to watch and from a United point of view, better to play. It will not be a stroll for United here, but with Berbatov in top form they have enough to unlock a decent Bolton defence.
PREDICTION: 0-2

Wolverhampton v Aston Villa, 14:05
The Frenchman's revolution starts in earnest. With Houllier and Mick McCarthy sending their teams out to follow their unique instructions - this one will be avoided by the football purist like the plague. Wolves will foul a lot and Ashley Young will dive a lot... yawn.
PREDICTION: 1-1

Newcastle v Stoke, 16:10
The Magpies are enjoying their best week in years. If this was a few weeks back it would be tempting to have this down as a typical crash down to earth. Stoke are spoilers no doubt but Chris Hughton has out-thought better managers and systems than Tony Pulis and his magninficent long-throw.
PREDICTION: 2-1
