The Blackburne Arms at 24 Catharine Street, Liverpool, formerly a Higson's Brewery Ltd house, is named after one of Liverpool's wealthiest families. The armorial crest of the Blackburne family was a cockerel on top of a trumpet and both the 'Blackburne Arms' and the 'Cock and Trumpet were popular names for public houses erected in areas connected to the family, such as in Liverpool. This public house as been the heart of the community since being built in 1928 and is steeped in local history dating back to Robert Ireland Blackburne after whom the pub is named.
