Pool Of Sound - Ava Fitz

Ava Fitz from Port Sunlight, is a rising star in the UK music scene, known for her haunting vocals and mature songwriting that belie her young age. At just 15 years old, she has already made a significant impact, winning the first-ever Primal Live competition at a sold-out Camp and Furnace in Liverpool where she was awarded Best Performance and Best Original Song. The huge battle of the bands style event raised more than £4,000 for The Whitechapel Centre in Liverpool. Among the 25 talented artists who performed on stage and competed for top prizes was Ava who attends Wirral Grammar in Bebington and is about to start her final year at the school with hopes of attending LIPA Sixth Form College once she finishes her GCSE's. She won prizes for 'best performance' and 'best original song' for her song 'I'm Falling', which was released as a single following 'Run Again', and was  played by Dave Monks on BBC Radio Merseyside. Her prizes were recording time at the SAE Institute and a place at a Songwriters Retreat, where she will work with multi-award winning songwriters in stunning locations. Her dad Jeff said, "The prize was recording time in a studio, and a three-day song-writing retreat with Music Industry professionals which Ava is really excited about. Ava wants to pursue a career in the music industry and would love to release an album in the future."

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo about her passion, Ava said: "I've always been obsessed with music. I was always humming before I could even talk. I started learning guitar when I was 13. I started to write my own songs. I worked at open mics and started getting cover gigs. It was a lot of practice. I was constantly practising new songs to do. That helped with my song writing and incorporating new ideas."

Her evocative sound, which has drawn comparisons to legendary artists such as Dolores O’Riordan of 'The Cranberries', 'Florence and The Machine', and Stevie Nicks, has captivated listeners. Ava's music has gained airtime on BBC Radio Introducing, and she has been interviewed by iconic broadcaster Billy Butler on Liverpool Live Radio. Recently featured on Mersey Radio by Gary Reddin, Ava was declared "a mega star in the making." With her talent and a growing fanbase, Ava is poised for a remarkable career in music. On the Heart Shaped Box Facebook page they said in September 2024, " We shine our Artist Spotlight on the incredibly talented Ava Fitz, a 15-year-old singer-songwriter from Merseyside! 🎤✨ Only two singles in she is already making waves, especially around the Liverpool music scene.
