Pool Of Sound - Caitlyn Eve

Liverpool born Caitlyn Eve started singing when she was young, around six or seven years old, and before she began to play any instruments she would sing to backing tracks. Artists from the 60s, such as Del Shannon, 'The Moody Blues', 'Dion & The Belmonts' influenced her as an artist in the beginning but Mazzy Star, Girl in Red and 'Fleetwood Mac' are now her inspiration and main influences. It wasn’t until she was about 13 or 14 years old that she took a proper interest in writing but over the past 5 years she has properly got into it.

She picked up a bit of piano when she started college aged about 16, studying music performance at LMA (Liverpool Media Academy). She wasn’t gigging much then, just playing, writing and learning different songs in her room but had a mate in college who she used to always jam with and play stuff like Paolo Nutini, 'Arctic Monkeys', 'Viola Beach', 'Seafret M60' and 'Retro Video Club', which got her into the acoustic setting. Caitlyn used to write on the piano but mostly writes on the guitar now, however she still goes back to the keys now and again to get a bit of a different sound to her songs. With a style being a mix of folk, rock and indie genres, it was about 2 years ago, she started playing guitar for herself, which she loves, but considers her voice as definitely her first instrument.

In April 2023 Caitlyn had started working with her band and hoping to be announcing some upcoming gig dates, whilst also releasing her debut single 'Scarlet' which she wrote in 2022. Then in March 2024 her next single 'Changing' was reviewed by Sam Millne for Mersey Music. "With a commanding voice and plenty of hooks, Caitlyn Eve is the latest female powerhouse rising on the Liverpool music scene and her newest single, 'Changing', shows just why. 'Everything is changing'. Well things should all be changing in Caitlyn Eve’s direction if her latest release is anything to go by. The single, 'Changing', is a superb follow-up to 'Scarlet' that gained plenty of plaudits for its ability to take a relatively simple melodic hook and turn it into a piece of indie rock with few chords. Her latest release 'Leave The Light On' in September 2024 was named by Gigslutz as 'This Feeling Track of the Day' - 'Elegant and electrifying singer-songwriter from Liverpool drawing inspiration from the best of indie, rock, and folk'. In October 2024 she was on Dave Monks' Radio Merseyside BBC Introducing show as she announced on 'X', 'Tune in tonight to hear us play some stripped back versions of my tunes!'
