Pool Of Sound - Lily Almond

Born in Liverpool in 1998, Lily Almond is a singer-songwriter whose acoustic music seamlessly blends elements of pop, folk, and country. She's a vocalist who also plays the guitar and piano, drawing inspiration from icons like Joni Mitchell, Alanis Morissette, and Bonnie Raitt. Also she is greatly inspired by local artist Outsider as well as Jade Bird, loving her writing style and how she creates a sense of nostalgia within her lyrics and melodies. Growing up in a musical family she has sung from a very early age but started to believe she could do music professionally just before the pandemic as she started to explore songwriting to find her own unique style. Speaking in 2021 she said, "My mum is a talented artist and my dad is really musical – he got me into playing guitar, and is so supportive of what I do. My maternal grandparents are huge music fans. They always have been and are regulars at my gigs. Like so many artists, I draw from my own experiences. I only started songwriting a year ago: at the time I really felt I was transitioning from a young girl into a woman. I tend to reflect on relationships of every type: I find it amazing how songwriting can capture a feeling that you can revisit at any point in your life, even if you might not necessarily be in that frame of mind any more. It’s like a log of memories that you can tap into whenever you want, in a healthy way of course! And I hope those reflections are relatable for anyone who is listening, too."

Lily has crafted her own unique sound that captivates audiences with its soulful melodies and heartfelt lyrics. With a passion for storytelling and an undeniable talent for crafting catchy hooks, she has quickly made a name for herself in the music industry. Her debut EP, released in July 2024, 'Solstice', is a journey through new love, reflection and personal growth, blending soulful storytelling with captivating harmonies. The EP showcases her versatility and knack for creating songs that are both deeply personal and universally relatable. On her Instagram page she wrote, "My Debut EP, 𝐒𝐎𝐋𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐄 is all yours on Friday 5th July 🌸Put my heart and soul into these tracks and I love each one thoroughly. I hope you’re gonna love them as much as I do!

At the Liverpool Arts Bar

Her EP release followed a sold-out launch gig at the end of May at The Jacaranda Club, Liverpool with some more gigs lined up throughout the year including the Kazimier Stockroom in July with Malantmedias 'Emerge' festival. A regular on the open mic circuit Lily gets her experience from gigging in the bars and pubs around Liverpool such as Liverpool Arts Bar Hope Street and Penny Lane wine bar and has performed at EBGBs in Liverpool and at the Maritime Museum where she performed a stripped back version of her track 'Roses' from the aforementioned EP in the similarly stripped back setting of the basement gallery in the Museum. Her original music has been featured on various radio stations. She is also a drama teacher and part of the Altru Team graduating from Uclan in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts with Hons in Acting. Since then she has achieved her PGCE as a drama teacher and taught at Liverpool College Secondary School before landing her dream job as part of the Altru Team.
