Pool Of Sound - Megan Louise

Born in Wirral in 2002, Merseyside has a new music talent who is destined for big things! Singer/songwriter Megan Louise from Prenton has been dubbed the new Taylor Swift, compared to Britney Spears and LeAnn Rimes, and is one of the most exciting young acts to come from our region for years. Megan was into singing from the age of 4, performing in theatre at the age of seven in 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' at the Liverpool Empire Theatre. She had a tough time in primary school with bullies so began writing poems about her favourite cartoon characters and TV shows. Her Mum then got her a rhyming book of poems about pets which led her to writing songs at the age of 9 and between the ages of 11-13 Megan did many live performances. One Christmas Megan was taking part in her school’s Christmas production and a teacher heard Megan sing one of her own songs and asked her to perform it with the school choir backing her. It was during this time many people hearing her songs mentioned the country influences and the tone in her voice. This encouraged her to start listening to other Country Artists and then she was hooked to the genre, with inspirations including: Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, 'The Shires', Maddie & Tae, Kelsea Ballerini, Dolly Parton and Rascal Flatts. The former Wirral Grammar student has had airplay on the likes of BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio Lancashire and Coast FM and performed a sell-out show in Germany. Megan told the Wirral Globe, "That’s kind of the go to thing for kids who can sing, going into musical theatre but everyone would say that my voice just wouldn’t blend very well in choirs. I taught myself to play guitar when I was nine-years-old, then when I was older I started off playing pub gigs were I had to play covers and found what people liked to hear from me. I taught myself guitar as I saw a friend who had one so kind of copied her and by the age of 11 I rolled the singing, songwriting and guitar playing into one and started gigging!"

An avid Liverpool Football Club fan, she played at Anfield during half time at Liverpool’s first home game of the season in 2018. Megan released her incredible debut single/EP, 'Train Song' on the 10th of August 2018 at a launch party 'Megan’s Manorfest' in Clatterbridge. It went to No.3 on the UK ITunes Country Chart and into the Top 40 overall ITunes UK Country Chart and gave the young artist a lot of recognition with over one million listeners hearing her song within the first three weeks. She has performed live sets and has been interviewed on many of the biggest national/regional radio stations in the UK, including BBC Radio 2, Under the Apple Tree Sessions with 'Whispering Bob Harris' and Chris Country. She rapidly became the 'belle of the ball', appearing at country music festivals, national and European live dates and shows. She has been a regular at the Monday Night Club at Liverpool’s Cavern Club which is run by Ian Prowse, a massive supporter of her music. All artists must perform their own compositions, no covers. A post on Twitter in February 2020 read, 'Exciting!! New single, #Timebomb, co-written with the amazing Megan-Louise Music on at halftime at the magnificent Anfield Stadium, home of the mighty reds, Liverpool FC, tomorrow.'

The video for 'Train Song' has also been featured on several shows on Europe’s only Country TV station, 'Keep it Country'. It was following her two sold-out gigs in Germany in April and December 2018 that the newspapers were hailing her as ‘the UK’s answer to Taylor Swift’. Vocally, Megan Louise has been compared to LeAnn Rimes and when she performed on The Voice Kids at the age of 14, Will.i.am said she reminded him of 'a younger Britney Spears'. Megan Louise has been featured on regional TV channel Granada TV, performing live and being interviewed as part of a showcase of her music. She is soon to release two new singles and will be showcasing these alongside more original material at the British Country Music Festival in September, 'Pride' (Doncaster) and other yet to be announced Country Music festivals this summer.
