'The Stamp' originally consisted of Connah Isaac Abraham, singer, guitarist & song-writer, Ben on bass, Andy on lead guitar and Hollis on drums who were all born and raised in Liverpool. With three of them meeting in school through music, they later met Hollis through hanging round town and going to gigs. It was in December 2015 that music blog Getintothis saw them at the Zanzibar and said, " Everyone we spoke to that night was struck by the chords of the youthful songwriter and his band. Their music is drowned in the influence of the Mersey undoubtedly, and Steven Morrison of 'The View' was impressed so much that he personally invited 'The Stamp' to join his band on tour. As a band it took them a while to conform to the modern necessity of promoting their music via social media but once they did it saw them reaping the benefits with 500 Soundcloud plays of their demo 'Cornerstone' in the first 48 hours, and more followers by the day boasted a promising future for the lads online, but once again Connah was more concerned with their music. He said, "I hate the way it’s all online nowadays, it’s a pain. We’re a word-of-mouth kinda band. Hear the hype then come the gig and see us, easy." Though he did accept its important role in the promotion and exposure of contemporary bands.
Riding a ferocious wave of hype and promise, 'The Stamp' seemed bound to be one of Liverpool’s next best exports, and with planning for more Merseyside shows upon their return from their European tour with 'The View', things were moving so fast for the band that it was unpredictable where they’d end up next – and packing for their next tour was a preparation made in whirlwind fashion. When asked how they made their preparations in such a short time, Connah signed off, "Easy, I literally took the call to confirm, grabbed me passport and made sure I had 30 pairs of socks."
The four mates who learnt their musical education at The Zanzibar, alongside cult, now-defunct bands such as 'Jimmy & The Revolvers' and 'The Levons', after their tour with 'The View' played headline shows at the O2 Academy.
The band are back gigging together with many shows in the pipeline by the end of the year. Merseyside lads to the core they are inspired by 'The Beatles', 'The La's' and 'The Real People' who introduced them to their manager Gary Murphy from 'The Bandits'. In 2017 at The Zanzibar, Connor Abraham bounced on stage full of confidence and enthusiasm, and the display of song writing craft is continued, albeit from a different approach within the compositional spectrum. Highly watchable, and despite breaking a string – Tony McCaldron coming to the rescue – he swazzed his way through a seven song set, including a mesmeric version of Marvin Gaye’s 'Can I Get A Witness', and the superlative and majestic 'Better Place', rounding off with a formidable version of 'Fugitive'. This was a great solo performance, full of assurance, the solo outing being a change for Connah having previously headed up the hotly tipped and tremendous band 'The Stamp'.
Connor, after his solo spell, came back with a new line-up for 'The Stamp' which saw them live at EBGBS in November 2022. Then the following year, Voodoo Daddy's Showroom announced a gig on the 27th of May 2023, "The Stamp, another Merseyside band, one who 8 years ago
were being touted as Liverpool's next great band to follow in the
footsteps of 'The La's', 'Shack', 'The Stairs' and 'The Coral'. They supported 'The View' across Europe and had a great set of tunes, well after
splitting before they really took off, they are back with a new line up
supporting master songwriter Connah Abraham and we are very lucky to
have them."
