Pool Of Sound - The Kairos

The Kairos, formed around 2016, is a raucous guitar-rock band reminiscent of 'Oasis', 'Arctic Monkeys', and 'Kasabian', who have built a growing following in their hometown of Liverpool. The band consist of Thomas Dempsey on lead guitar and vocals, Lewis Chambers on guitar, Owen Forrester on bass and Sam Bradley on drums and backing vocals. Tom is from Formby, Lewis is from Ainsdale, Sam is from Litherland and Owen is from Maghull.

At the Zanzibar in January 2017 they opened the evening and music blog Getintothis was there. " The Kairos, armed with a set list of top indie classics – including the 'Arctic Monkeys' 'Mardy Bum'. The young band successfully opened the show, gradually building up a crowd. The songs seemed to get heavier through the set, leaving the audience with a semi-psychedelic rock number."

The up and coming group have played at many of the city's music venues including Heebie Jeebies, The Zanzibar, The Arts Club, 02 Academy, Invisible Wind Factory and Jimmy's and won the Battle of The Bands in Liverpool Rocks! Liverpool Rocks is an established Battle of the Bands that takes in around 40 bands from the Merseyside area and gives them the chance to compete for great prizes. The 2018 final was completely sold out on Friday the 27th of April at the O2 Academy. Having released their new single, 'Flying High', they said on their Twitter account: "The support we get off the people who come to every gig is phenomenal and its what won us the final. So a big thank you to The Kairos family, as well as a shout out to our mates LOLA who we met along the way. Everyone get to Sound city to watch us play (day and time yet to be announced)." They then released a further two singles early in their young career, 'Money Mind' in 2019 and in January 2020, 'Teetotal'.

From their recent tour

It was reported in March 2022 that two members of one of the best new bands in England, Thomas Dempsey and Lewis Chambers from the Formby based group were attacked in the early hours of Sunday, March 1st and seriously injured in a knife attack. Both 19 year olds were involved in an altercation before an assailant used a knife to attack and stab the pair. The incident left vocalist Thomas, who was stabbed in the chest in a “serious but stable” condition at a nearby hospital, and Lewis with a minor facial laceration and was discharged from treatment. According to the BBC a “20-year-old man was been charged with wounding, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and affray. Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher joined those showing support for the band and tweeted: “Sending love n light to Tom and Lewis from The Kairos thinking of you both LG x”

The quartet might have kept us patiently waiting for new tunes during the pandemic but was it worth the wait? 'Round The Bend' starts with your classic drum stick countdown before progressing into what can only be described as a hedonistic floor filler. The kind of song you'd like to hear after a few ciders in the sunshine. The tune was produced and mixed at the Motor Museum studio in Liverpool with sound engineer Loic Gillard, who the band have a great working history with. Then in 2022 they released 'Lazy Lethargic' which was recorded and mixed by Ben Harper who recently worked on The Mysterines' top ten album 'The Reeling'. The video was directed by Matt Snow at Snow Motion. Fresh from joining 'The Skinner Brothers' on their recent UK tour, they played at Jimmy's in Liverpool on the 21st of May and at The Isle Of Wight Festival with more UK festival dates to be announced. Looking into 2022 the lads are busier than ever with a diary full of new releases and gigs TBA. They had kicked off in January with the release of 'Round The Bend' on the 14th followed by the accompanying music video via their Youtube channel on the 15th.
