Lauren Worthy, better known as 'LARO', is a Liverpool based singer-songwriter with a love for honest and heartfelt lyrics. It was in May 2021 that this 20-year-old musician released her haunting new single 'Daffodil'. This followed initial releases of 'City Walls' ( Demo) and 'Control' in 2020. The new song focused on themes of closure and new beginnings
and portrays a level of vulnerability. Laro said: " I definitely write
about personal experience more than anything else", which is clearly
heard throughout the track. The
semantics of feeling alone hit close to the bone for anyone who has
ever been in a relationship and only hits harder after 18 months of
isolation from the whole world. Within, there is a sense of catharsis
throughout the whole song. Lockdown did not hinder her creativity either, with the song being
self-produced in her bedroom. On this 'LARO' said: "It does feel very
different doing it in my room, but it's a
good skill to have." Though she hopes to have a professional to produce
any further projects. July was meant to be her debut support gig but unfortunately, it had to be postponed due to some people testing positive.
She came back with a brand new single, 'Empty Words', with gorgeous piano
melodies, and synth-pop production reminiscent of artists like Lapsley
and Lorde, it is a tune that sounds so lovely. Gorgeous vocals
and harmonies throughout, it's a relatable love story that you can tell
really comes from the soul. Well worth a listen!
In November 2021 her Facebook page announced, "thank you so much to BBC Music Introducing for playing my new single 'Empty Words' on their Merseyside show last night! This was actually my second radio play of the week as the track was also played on @kcclive radio station on tuesday night as part of their local and live section!

At the Jacaranda
|
March 2022 saw 'LARO' lucky enough to be part of the International Women’s Day celebration down at EBGBS alongside Jamie Jenkins where they shared the stage with amazing talent. This was followed in April 2022 when she had her first headline gig at the Jacaranda. After catching the attention of BBC Radio 1 with her previous single,
‘Wishful Thinking’, she backed it up just
in time for summer with an empowering, female pop anthem, 'Forget Me
Not' which dropped on the 15th of July. This single will be the third track on
the honest and vulnerable debut EP from the 21 year old, based upon
experiences of young love, heartbreak and healing whilst growing up.
With co-producer, Joe Sage, on the mix and wizard, Stephen Kerrison on
the master, 'LARO' has worked closely with her creative team to find the
perfect sound for you to scream along to at your summer parties.
Inspired by the likes of Maisie Peters, Holly Humberstone and Griff, she is all about female equality and
representation in general but especially in the music industry and this
is a factor that will remain close to her heart through her career.
