Pool Of Sound - Eyesore & The Jinx

'Eyesore & The Jinx' tap in to the undercurrent of unease in society and channel it through their own darkly comedic filter. Their line-up is Josh Miller on vocals and bass guitar, guitarist Liam Bates and drummer Eoghan Robinson. Josh was raised in West Derby and started rehearsing with a short-lived boy band before Liam just started showing up and then, looking for a drummer, Eoghan joined them.
They fit comfortably alongside contemporary acts like 'Parquet Courts', 'Omni' and 'Duds' when it comes to knitting together with great hooks and stop-start rhythms, but it's the influence of 'The Fall' that looms the largest. The band are a tight, supportive unit and part of an exciting group of acts that has coalesced around Eggy Records, sharing bills regularly with 'Wild Fruit Art Collective', Jo Mary, Beija Flo and Bill Nickson. They have a frenetic punkabilly that is angry, funny and tight that is clearly visible in their pulsating live shows which evidence their intensity and the hold and release of emotions.

Their single, 'Gated Community', rages about the small minded factions of society and their follow-up single, 'On An Island', also released on Eggy Records, is a similar attack, finding them in the kind of form that has marked them out as one of the brightest sparks in UK guitar music. During their recording sessions, the trio worked with a score of highly impressive producers including 'Fat White Family's' Nathan Saoudi, Daniel Fox from 'Girl Band' and John Hartley, guitarist for Liverpool psych-garage surgeons 'Clinic'. Their single 'Swill' was the first track they recorded with Daniel Fox alongside Matt Freeman at Fresh Goods Studio, Birkenhead. Their influence now expands outside of  Liverpool and began with a 6Music Roundtable win for 'On An Island', produced by Hartley from 'Clinic'. Their single 'Leisure Time', KEXP's 'Song of The Day', and 'Nightlife', were recorded by 'Girl Band's Daniel Fox. The single 'Nightlife', released on Eggy Records, was the second single to be released from a forthcoming EP. Their previous single 'Leisure Time' earned them multiple BBC 6Music plays, Spotify and Apple Music playlist. Their sphere of influence is quickly expanding out of their home region with their first three singles receiving extensive national radio support.

February 2019 saw another single from the upcoming EP, 'The Exile Parlour' called 'Murder In The Culture Void'. Josh says, "It's just about having murder in every sense of the word – both literal and figurative – and basing it in West Derby on a Saturday night!" In October they announced on Facebook, " 'Tis with deep satisfaction that we can announce we're off to de Netherlands for the very first time, as we play ESNS in Groningen on 16th of January 2020. The very definition of a winter wildie."

2020 started with a bang, with the band playing with the 'Jesus & The Mary Chain' and 'Fontaines DC' in Butlins, Bognor Regis, followed by a flying visit to Eurosonic to perform in a large school and have a chat with Abbie McCarthy for Radio One. On top of that they supported U-Bahn at YES in Manchester. In July they tweeted, " It's with great pleasure, that today we can finally present our debut EP, 'The Exile Parlour' released digitally and with a limited edition 10" vinyl to follow via Eggy Records." The EP is produced again by 'Girl Band's' Daniel Fox whose credits as a producer have started to expand and its four tracks sound exceedingly sharp and inventive, even though they don't appear very far from post punk's archetypal wiriness and its traditional ways. In October they announced a new single 'Accidental Weller', via Eggy Records, which was recorded during sessions with Daniel Fox and Matt Freeman for their debut EP, 'The Exile Parlour'.
