Well that's made that clear!
It was brought in this season to clarify disputed decisions and to assist officials. VAR is a form of technology that is supposed to help referees make near-accurate decisions.
However it has proved to be a disaster and it will be a shame that the 2019-20 title winners will not get the acclaim of previous winners due to the influence it has had on so many results this season. They say that contentious decisions even themselves out, but maybe they do in life but but not in one season. So far this season it is estimated that 72 goals or incidents have been directly affected by the video referee but that doesn't tell the whole story. Goals, or disallowed goals, affect how games continue and how players feel a sense of injustice has occurred particularly when adjudicated on by somebody watching on a screen many miles away.
However it doesn't end there on a match day. The team benefiting from a decision receives a lift in confidence going into the next game whereas, depending on league position, the aggrieved team feel pressure from both media and fans alike. It isn't just the number of decisions that have gone for a VAR check, stopping the game for several minutes at times, it is also the number of instances where VAR hasn't affected an on field decision much to the consternation of pundits and fans.
It could be argued that it actually cost the Everton manager his job with dubious decisions putting him under immense pressure.
It has turned watching the game into a 'computer game simulation' where supporters are unable to celebrate instantly as it has all become somewhat unreal.
This is all a shame for Liverpool fans as when they become Champions, as is now very likely, a lot of the analysis will be on these decisions, or lack of them, just as much on the quality of their achievement.
