Week 1 (2019/20) That Was The Week That Was

The Law states : A player is in an offside position if any of their body parts, except the hands and arms, are in the opponents' half of the pitch, and closer to the opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent; the last opponent is usually, but not necessarily, the keeper. ( Hence the confusion )
Liverpool against Norwich at home saw the European Champions well on top.
But Allison's injury and losing the 2nd half will undoubtedly concern Klopp.
As last year when Liverpool score 4, Man City go one better and score 5 away.
Aston Villa looked to provide a big shock but Harry Kane, who else, saved the day.
VAR took to the stage in a big way with the tightest margins making big decisions.
Although some argue 'it's there in black & white' we still require clear definitions!
Two new young managers went head to head but a mistake by Zouma changed the game.
Although Chelsea had played quite well until then, they ended 4-0 down just the same.
Everton dominated the game at Palace but an injury and sending off changed everything.
Steve Bruce didn't lift the gloom at Newcastle, it could be a while before their fans sing!
"VAR decisions are affecting "the spirit of the game" said Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo.
When fans are celebrating the 'no goal' rather than a goal, it's becoming like a Xmas panto.
Another penalty shoot out saw Liverpool win the Super Cup but Chelsea will feel aggrieved.
They were the better team for a lot of the game and after Saturday their fans will be relieved.
Playing for two hours in the heat of Istanbul may take its toll and we'll have to wait and see
If the success of winning a 'friendly match' is worth putting the rest of the season in jeopardy.
Chelsea fans not impressed with VAR
