In November 2008, aged 18, Balotelli became the youngest Inter player to score in the Champions League.
In his second season with Inter, Balotelli, now 19 years old, had a number of disciplinary problems, most notably involving head coach Jose Mourinho who excluded him from the first team in the second half of January 2009. Earlier that season Mourinho had accused Balotelli of showing a lack of effort in training.
He was also the subject of racist chanting and had further issues with Mourihno and his own team mates and the Inter Milan fans.
Despite all these issues both Manchester clubs showed an interest in signing him in 2010 and he eventually rejoined his old boss Roberto Mancini at Manchester City who at the time said "he is still so young there is a big chance for him to improve. He is a strong and exciting player, and City fans will enjoy watching him."

However his spell at Manchester City again proved problematical both on and off the field leading Mancini to say "The problem is because of his age, he can make some mistakes. He's Mario. He's crazy – but I love him because he's a good guy."
This led in January 2013 to him leaving the club to join A.C. Milan with Mancini again supporting the player in suggesting he had sanctioned Balotelli's sale to Milan for the good of the player, describing the forward "like another one of my children" and saying Balotelli could become one of the best players in the world.

He was only at A.C. Milan 18 months before joining Liverpool as a replacement for Lois Suarez but after scoring only 4 goals in 28 appearances for the Anfield club he was deemed 'unsuitable' and went on loan back to A.C. Milan. However, after only 1 goal in 20 appearances, he returned to Liverpool only to be told that he had no future there by the new manager Jurgen Klopp.
On deadline day it was announced he would be joining Nice on a 'free transfer' with Liverpool fan and pundit Jamie Carragher tweeting "Balotelli on a free is still paying over the odds by Nice."

Step forward, Mario Balotelli. the new King of Nice. where the fans have welcomed him like one of their own.He is working hard on his game , tracking back and defending and impressive in his build up play. He has scored six goals in the six league matches he's played so far which have seen his team go to the top of the table, three points clear of Monaco and defending champions Paris Saint-Germain after 12 games.
