| England's Best Ever Player and only 30 years old! |
Probably in front of the back four, next to Henderson, I daresay.
That's the way Rooney is treated by his club and the national team.
The excuse used is that 'he's so versatile', if you know what I mean.
Against the minnows of Malta he and John Stones controlled the midfield
But only two goals from those strikers on view was indeed a poor yield.
Southgate bowed to media pressure, dropped Rooney who looked sad.
In his place Jordan Henderson was captain! Has the world gone mad?
Pundits were happy prior to the next game lauding his brave decison.
Until they watched the boring nil-nil draw and a team full of indecision.
Now the focus has turned on Stones and Sturridge, are they the right type?
No mention of the blameless Henderson and Dier who both get positive hype.
So what of Barkley, Wilshire, Sterling, Lallana,Rooney and the'Ox'?
Pundits are now supporting the likes of Andy Carroll back in the box.
In reality for a lot of fans watching England, they couldn't care.
Most can't wait until Saturday when the Premier League is here.
