A Thought on Armistice Day
When you woke up this morning did you think of your freedom?
Grateful to all of them who have died fighting for our kingdom?
To the Army, Navy, Air Force, the Home Guard and Marines,
Who volunteered to fight for us, with many still in their 'teens.
For those who did return, sometimes things weren't quite the same.
After several years away from home, it was hard to apportion blame.
Many didn't talk about their war, of the things they had gone through.
Of their mental and physical problems, we just didn't have a clue.
So at this time of year we should wear a Poppy with some pride
As a reminder to our children of their forefathers who have died.
