This Week's American Football News

                                                                    Tom Brady

U.S. District Judge Richard M. Berman has said that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell went too far in affirming punishment of the Super Bowl winning quarterback. Brady has always insisted he played no role in a conspiracy to deflate footballs below the allowable limit at last season's AFC championship game.
The written decision frees Brady to prepare for the Sept. 10 season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It's that time of the year for NFL players and coaches with more than 600 players losing their jobs when rosters needed to be cut down to 53 men.
Those include, Patriots wide receiver Reggie Wayne and Eagles quarterback Tim Tebow who were among those to miss the cut on Saturday. The Arizona Cardinals also run out of patience with Logan Thomas and released Darnell Dockett as well. Thomas was one of the 19 players released by the Cardinals on Saturday as the team cut down its roster to 53 players ahead of Week 1.

It appears the Seattle Seahawks are prepared to start the 2015 season without Kam Chancellor, and the New York Giants are among the teams possibly interested in trading for the star safety.

Isaiah Battle, an offensive tackle taken in the fifth round of the NFL Supplemental Draft in July, was among 20 players waived by the Rams on Saturday.
