They Think It's All Over

Is Goal Line Technology the Answer?
Michel Platini made claims that the introduction of five officials would remove the argument for ' goal line technology' when he said ' With five officials, they see everything. They don't take decisions without being fully aware'.

They were introduced and the arguments continued.
Line call

Football's most powerful man Sepp Blatter has now demanded goal-line technology is introduced after Ukraine's heartache against England.
So that will stop all the arguments, won't it?

If we imagine that goal line technology had been introduced prior to the England v Ukrainian game then the 'goal' would have stood and the result could have been so different.

However, the fact that the scorer was 'offside' when the ball was played would then have been the major talking point and another debate would have begun.

Surely the time has come to stop jumping on this particular bandwagon and either leave things as they are or revert to the way the Rugby League officiate games.

Not only with the use of TV reviews to decide on all controversial incidents, but also putting players on report, players obeying the referee without recourse and allowing players treatment whilst the game continues.

Not to mention 'Sin Bins' or 'Blood Bins'.

This would eliminate a lot of the stoppages that currently frustrate supporters.

Before the 'old' arguments are put forward that stopping the game would ruin it's fluidity, that would be more than improved by players not stopping the game by 'pretence injury' if the game was not stopped for this on the majority of occasions.

It could very well add to the excitement, as it does in Rugby League, as the crowd anticipate the judgement knowing that it has received due consideration.

All these supposed stoppages do not affect the televising of live Rugby League matches which seem to finish within the allotted scheduled time limits week after week.

It surely is worth a T.R.Y.
