Premier League Predictions for 2011

2011 will see a fundamental change at the top and bottom of the Premiership with a new 'Top Table' and a surprise in the teams looking to beat the drop.

The Managerial Casino Wheel of winners and losers will see Rafa Benitez, Martin O'Neill and Sam Allardyce being joined by Gerard Houllier, Roy Hodgson, Mark Hughes, Avram Grant and Carlo Ancelotti and Steve McLaren.

Arsenal - Arsene Wenger will at last win a trophy for the long suffering Arsenal fans, which could see them go on to become the 'Barcelona' of the Premier League as their football over the last few years has warranted.

Manchester City - Roberto Mancini will be adored for bringing home a European trophy and this will encourage this 'Fantasy Team' dream as the owners look to cement their place at the top.

Tottenham - Harry Redknapp will provide them with their most successful year for a long time with a top 4 finish but, worryingly for their fans, this could also push him closer to the England job that he so coverts.

Chelsea - This could be the year that sees their ageing squad breaking up as an indifferent end to the season leads to a change of manager yet again. Will the new man be given sufficient funds to re-establish them?

Manchester United - 2011 will be the year when the reality of Beckham, Scholes, Giggs and Neville no longer being around comes home to roost and Wayne Rooney is the 'lone star' who will again question the direction the club is going as he looks at quality of the players now around him.

Everton - Could this be when the club finally gets the investment Bill Kenwright has been searching for? If so, they could finally push on and join the new 'Sky Top Table' of Arsenal,City, and Spurs.

Liverpool - They could be a surprise name down at the wrong end of the table with not enough of the right kind of players for such a 'battle'. The Kop should be careful what they wish for. NESV are known to have a 'scientific' approach to sport. John Henry will listen to the voice of the fans and Hodgson will no doubt leave. Don't be surprised to see the 'Prozone Dream Team' of Allardyce and Phil Brown arrive as Liverpool follow Newcastle's recent path.

Aston Villa - Houllier is another who has not lived up to expectations and the mix of youth and experience is not quite right at the moment. With the likes of Ashley Young looking for better things, who knows where they will end up?

Fulham - Sleep walking into a relegation battle, a side that cannot score goals and draws too many games will see another manager bite the dust at the end of a disappointing season.

West Ham - Despite having a 'spine' that some would see as playing for England - Green, Upson, Parker and Cole, this team is too unpredictable for their owners liking and Avram Grant will leave the club as the Hammers could finally go down.
With the promoted clubs surviving and Stoke and Birmingham having enough in their lockers to stay up, a 'big' club could go down this year.

Manager of the Year - Ian Holloway. He must have given hope to so many other clubs who have looked at the Premier League as a distant dream unless a billionaire turned their club around. He has also given chairmen at the higher spending clubs something to think about when their managers bemoan the lack of ££'s to spend. 2011 may see Randy Lerner or John Henry take a chance on Holloway's futuristic football philosophy - attack teams and entertain the fans!
